Counsel – Commodities

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Prepare and negotiate physical natural gas supply agreements, including agreements for gas purchase and sale based on NAESB guidelines, as well as asset management contracts.

• Create and negotiate agreements related to natural gas transportation, gathering, processing, and storage.

• Assist with gas supply arrangements for projects involving LNG, power generation, and data centers.

• Provide guidance on FERC regulatory issues pertaining to EQT’s Commodities division.

• Offer legal support for acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures, including due diligence and integration efforts.

• Deliver day-to-day legal counsel to commercial teams.

• Formulate practical legal strategies that align with business goals while effectively managing risks.

• Report directly to the Assistant General Counsel of Commodities and Midstream.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of legal experience, with a significant emphasis on the energy sector, especially in commercial and gas marketing.

• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating agreements in the gas marketing and midstream industries, including physical natural gas supply, transportation, gathering, processing, and storage contracts.

• Juris Doctorate from a recognized law school.

• Must be licensed to practice law in the United States.

• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal capabilities.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across various business units and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

• Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgment and provide practical, solution-focused legal advice.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

• Familiarity with technology and legal operations tools is preferred.

• An understanding of regulatory considerations relevant to the natural gas marketing and midstream sectors is preferred.
