This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, technology agreements (SaaS, cloud services, software licenses), professional services agreements, marketing and advertising contracts, and supplier contracts.
• Collaborate with Procurement, IT, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Finance teams to establish commercial partnerships that align with business goals while managing legal and regulatory risks.
• Review and assess powers of attorney and trust documents to confirm proper authorization for homeowner transactions; provide guidance to Investment Support and Operations on POA validity, trust administration, and successor trustee issues.
• Offer daily legal counsel to business units on operational and legal inquiries across a broad spectrum of topics; act as an accessible legal resource for stakeholders in various departments.
• Aid in third-party risk management (TPRM) by evaluating legal and regulatory risks in vendor relationships; ensure that commercial agreements adhere to consumer financial services regulations.
• Assist the Legal Operations team with contract management system implementation, template creation, and process improvement.
• Support litigation matters, commercial disputes, real estate and facilities issues, regulatory examinations, and special projects as necessary.
• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
• 4-6 years of pertinent legal experience at a prestigious law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination of both.
• Experience in consumer financial services, fintech, mortgage lending, or a highly regulated consumer-facing industry is essential.
• Strong expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, technology agreements (SaaS, cloud services, software licenses), professional services agreements, and marketing contracts.
• Knowledge of the consumer financial services regulatory landscape (e.g., UDAP/UDAAP, FCRA, state consumer protection laws) and the impact of regulations on commercial agreements.
• Exceptional contract drafting, review, and negotiation abilities with a solid understanding of commercial terms, risk allocation, liability provisions, indemnification, and warranties.
• Intellectual curiosity with the ability to translate legal advice into actionable guidance for business teams; demonstrate excellent judgment in balancing legal risk with business strategy.
• Capacity to work independently and manage multiple projects, negotiations, and stakeholders simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with comfort in navigating ambiguity and shifting business priorities.
• Proven experience working effectively with cross-functional teams; strong capability to build trusted relationships and credibility across all organizational levels.
