This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +1 more country.
• Develop cost models utilizing both internal and external databases to set Design-to-Cost objectives for components, modules, and assemblies within HARMAN Automotive products.
• Establish best-practice cost benchmarks for Automotive products down to the component level.
• Evaluate supplier quote cost breakdowns along with cost-influencing elements.
• Spearhead the technical definition and execution of electronic system cost-modeling solutions.
• Determine analytics that allow for the establishment of trend data.
• Build technical partnerships with suppliers to discover optimal cost solutions and emerging technologies that enhance cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product Sourcing during new business quoting to set reference cost targets.
• Assist Procurement during negotiations with target costing strategies.
• Work cross-functionally with Procurement, Engineering, Customer Account Management, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to meet profitability and growth objectives.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in cost engineering for electronic systems, VA/VE of electronic systems, or design and development of electronic systems.
• Familiarity with complex components, modules, and assemblies.
• Proven technical leadership with a track record of guiding and reviewing the work of fellow cost engineers.
• Ability to resolve intricate technical issues through structured solutions and influence others to foster alignment.
• Competence in deconstructing component costs into their individual elements.
• Strong presentation skills with the capability to convey complex technical subjects effectively.
• Experience in a dynamic, results-driven environment with a strong focus on metrics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; adept at engaging with all levels within a global organization.
• Proven accountability and experience in leading cross-functional teams towards financial and/or transformational goals.
• Proficiency in English.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
• Openness to working in an EU, North American, or APAC office, or remotely full-time with occasional visits to HARMAN locations.
• A Master's degree in engineering is preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in developing cost models for components, modules, and assemblies is preferred.
• Experience with automotive electronic systems, particularly in selecting and recommending automotive-grade components, is highly desirable.
• Willingness to share knowledge and best practices is preferred.
• Adaptability to shifting demands and conditions is preferred.
