This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, assess, and enhance manufacturing techniques within chemical processing operations.
• Assist in batch and continuous manufacturing processes, with a focus on web handling, solids handling, and polymer processing.
• Ensure systems are in place to maintain consistent quality of raw materials, intermediates, and final products.
• Offer technical assistance for manufacturing challenges encountered in chemical processing operations.
• Serve as a technical intermediary among Research & Technology, Technical Service, Marketing & Sales, and Manufacturing.
• Contribute to process enhancements, the introduction of new products, and scale-up initiatives.
• Oversee and enhance plant efficiency, throughput, yield, and reliability.
• Deliver technical direction to Site Process Engineers and plant teams regarding unit operations, troubleshooting, and equipment performance.
• Collaborate on analyses of capital and expense projects, design considerations, equipment selection, vendor assessments, cost estimations, and life-cycle cost evaluations.
• Utilize mass and energy balances, heat and momentum transfer principles, and fundamentals of reaction and separation in process and equipment design.
• Foster consistent implementation of Process Safety Management principles, including Management of Change and Process Hazard Analysis.
• Lead or assist in Root Cause Analysis and CAPA development for process disruptions, quality discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, and safety incidents.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
• More than 5 years of engineering experience within a chemical or chemically-related manufacturing setting.
• Familiarity with general chemical processing operations, encompassing both batch and continuous processes.
• Practical knowledge of web handling, filament/fiber spinning and handling, polymer-related unit operations, pump systems, extrusion, and bulk material handling equipment.
• Experience in or supporting manufacturing facilities regulated by PSM.
• Capability to work effectively at all organizational levels, from plant operations to corporate management.
• Experience in participating in or leading Root Cause Analysis and Process Hazard Analysis activities.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% as required.
• Preferred: Knowledge of PLCs and distributed control systems, including Emerson DeltaV and Honeywell Experion.
• Preferred: Experience with process modeling or simulation software.
• Preferred: Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
