This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the main legal partner for DKeX and associated regulated exchange and clearing projects.
• Provide counsel to business stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters related to the Commodity Exchange Act and the regulations set by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
• Create, review, and maintain exchange rules, policies, governance documents, and other legal materials that support the functioning and advancement of regulated market infrastructure.
• Offer legal advice on regulatory filings, rule submissions, and additional matters that facilitate the ongoing operations of DKeX and its related regulated exchange and clearing initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with teams across Product, Engineering, Market Operations, Compliance, Finance, Information Technology, and other cross-functional areas to aid in the development, launch, and management of regulated products and services.
• Keep track of legislative, regulatory, and industry changes impacting derivatives markets and inform internal stakeholders about emerging legal risks, obligations, and opportunities.
• Oversee outside counsel and coordinate legal assistance on specialized regulatory issues when necessary.
• Create practical legal guidance, scalable processes, and internal resources that enable business teams to make well-informed decisions while ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory standards.
• Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited institution with outstanding academic achievements.
• Minimum of five years of legal experience, preferably a blend of law firm, in-house, or governmental/regulatory experience.
• Background in advising clients on financial services regulation, derivatives markets, exchange regulation, or other highly regulated sectors.
• Proven ability to dissect complex regulatory frameworks and deliver practical, business-focused legal counsel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of elucidating intricate legal concepts to both technical and non-legal audiences.
• A sense of curiosity, sound judgment, and a thoughtful approach to addressing unique legal and regulatory challenges.
• A collaborative attitude, strong ownership mentality, and the capacity to excel in a fast-paced environment while supporting innovative products.
• Preference for experience advising a Designated Contract Market, Derivatives Clearing Organization, futures commission merchant, broker-dealer, exchange, or financial regulatory agency.
