Corporate Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, analysis, and offer legal advice to business units on intricate legal and compliance issues concerning the Company's operations, products, and strategic initiatives.

• Provide legal counsel and direction on complex transactions involving sophisticated counterparties and external service providers, including professional services agreements, licenses, and various strategic sourcing agreements.

• Assist in the legal review and risk mitigation strategies related to all facets of client interactions, such as consumer disclosures and agreements, identity verification and authentication, e-signatures, marketing, privacy, data use, and customer service.

• Collaborate closely with the VP-Legal Financial Services/Franchise/Small Business, General Counsel, and key business partners to deliver high-level legal support across a range of initiatives.

• Stay informed on evolving laws that may affect the business and aid in designing and implementing compliant solutions.

• Act as a departmental subject matter expert on issues related to small business services, including bookkeeping, payroll, payments, financial technology, advisory services, and commercial finance solutions.

• Contribute to team objectives by consistently meeting commitments and collaborating effectively with minimal supervision.

• Occasionally assist with various high-demand legal projects outside of the normal focus area.

• Manage outside counsel within budget constraints.

• Some domestic or international travel may be necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctorate degree and a valid license to practice law in one or more states.

• Current membership in the Missouri Bar or the ability to become a member of the Missouri Bar within six months.

• A minimum of five years of legal experience in a large law firm, corporate legal department, or a similar environment.

• Detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.

• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the capability to engage and persuade a diverse range of audiences.

• Established ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships with clients and external partners, providing thoughtful, customer-centered legal guidance that aligns with business objectives.

• Proficient in planning and coordinating multiple projects and work initiatives simultaneously.

• A positive demeanor, a collegial approach, and a propensity to go 'above and beyond' to achieve the best outcomes for the Company.
