Corporate Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as the principal legal advisor for Retail Sales, Production, Operations, Products, Compliance, Consumer Direct, and Correspondent Lending business areas.

• Offer pragmatic legal advice concerning mortgage origination, lending operations, underwriting, loan fulfillment, documentation, and associated business functions.

• Guide business partners and executives on legal, regulatory, compliance, and operational risks that impact mortgage lending processes and strategic goals.

• Oversee legal escalations and deliver prompt, practical solutions to facilitate business aims while effectively managing legal exposure.

• Advise stakeholders on federal and state mortgage lending laws, regulations, agency requirements, investor guidelines, and best practices within the industry.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's Degree relevant to the position or an equivalent qualification.

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a Bachelor's Degree or relevant college courses/technical training in Business, Finance, Law, or a related discipline.

• At least five years of experience in mortgage banking.

• Must be admitted to the California state bar and maintain good standing.

• Comprehensive knowledge of the entire mortgage lending process.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong research capabilities.

• Proficient in analyzing facts and data to identify issues and formulate resolutions.

• Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

• Previous experience with PDF/Adobe programs and the Microsoft Suite.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
