This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations.
• Assist with the closing processes at the end of each month and year.
• Ensure precise accruals and cutoff procedures are implemented across departments and entities.
• Generate monthly Work in Progress (WIP) reports and ensure revenue recognition complies with GAAP standards.
• Reconcile WIP with the general ledger and clarify any discrepancies.
• Support field leaders in understanding backlog, under/over billings, and percent completion metrics.
• Manage progress billing, milestone billing, service invoicing, and retention tracking.
• Guarantee timely and accurate customer invoicing along with accounts receivable follow-up.
• Monitor revenue recognition based on completed work and contractual agreements.
• Lead the annual budgeting process, including estimating labor burdens and projecting material costs.
• Prepare ongoing forecasts and cash flow estimates.
• Analyze actual results compared to budget and communicate variances to leadership.
• Coordinate year-end reviews or audits with the Corporate Controller.
• Assist with filings related to sales tax, property tax, and use tax.
• Maintain internal controls to protect assets.
• Collaborate with field operations and project managers on financial processes.
• Work with HR/payroll on labor tracking, benefit costs, and reconciliations.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
• CPA designation is preferred.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience is necessary.
• At least 3 years in a controller or senior accounting leadership position is mandatory.
• Previous experience in the construction, mechanical contracting, HVAC, plumbing, or other skilled trades sectors is required.
• Strong understanding of WIP accounting, job costing, and contract billing methodologies.
• Proficiency in construction-related accounting software such as Foundation, Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE, QuickBooks Contractor Edition, or similar ERP systems.
• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial statement preparation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical capabilities.
• Proficient with advanced Excel and Google Sheets.
• Familiarity with ERP/accounting software, job costing and dispatch software, and payroll systems.
• Ability to remain seated for extended periods.
• Capable of performing repetitive typing and mouse movements.
• Able to tolerate prolonged screen viewing.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
