Controller – VC Backed Startups

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Supervise accounting functions, encompassing GL, AR/AP, payroll, and revenue recognition.

• Oversee month-end and year-end closing activities.

• Direct external audits and collaborate with tax and audit partners.

• Implement and enhance financial systems, processes, and internal controls.

• Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, and Operations to synchronize financial data with company objectives.

• Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and board reporting packages.

• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning.

• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulatory standards.

• Build, mentor, and manage small accounting teams as the organization expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience.

• At least 2 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller position.

• Previous experience in a venture-backed startup or high-growth setting.

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and compliance frameworks.

• Experience managing audits and collaborating with external accounting firms.

• Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems like NetSuite, QuickBooks, Ramp, and Bill.com.

• CPA certification is highly preferred.

• Experience in SaaS, fintech, or technology sectors is advantageous.
