Controller, US GAAP, Accounting/Audit

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Oversee the company's accounting and financial reporting responsibilities.

• Prepare and manage internal financial reports while addressing audits and compliance requirements.

• Supervise bank accounts and refine financial policies and procedures to support a rapidly expanding organization.

• Collaborate with the CFO and Director of Finance to establish accounting and management reporting processes and protocols.

• Lead the internal accounting function, finalize month-end close-outs, and produce timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), along with comprehensive supporting documentation.

• Direct the monthly close process with a target completion of 6-8 days (soft close by day 6, hard close by day 8).

• Prepare initial financial analytics, including flux (variance) analysis and budget vs. actual analysis, for senior leadership review.

• Utilize materiality assessments when evaluating post-close adjustments to balance accounting accuracy with operational efficiency.

• Support the Accounts Payable function using the RAMP software to ensure timely submission of expenses and related reports.

• Develop and maintain strong financial controls across the organization.

• Manage Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Credit & Collections, and Banking relationships, while collaborating with Operations to manage and enhance Materials & Equipment flows.

• Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison with external auditors by coordinating audit requests, providing supporting documentation, and managing audit communications.

• Automate Netsuite entries through the fixed asset module.

• Oversee and perform monthly reconciliation of inventory across multiple partners and within Netsuite.

• Mentor and develop accounting staff by offering guidance on U.S. GAAP, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve accounting and operational challenges.


⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in developing internal controls, accounting standards, and financial reporting processes in growth-stage companies, ideally within manufacturing, agriculture, consumer products, assembly, retail, or other inventory-intensive sectors.

• Thorough understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting processes, with proven ability to lead month-end close and maintain precise financial records.

• Experience in supporting the scaling of new technologies or successful new commercial initiatives.

• Minimum of 8 years of progressive Finance/Accounting experience, with a CPA designation (local CPA acceptable; US CPA preferred).

• Big Four Experience: 3+ years with a Big Four accounting firm (PwC, Deloitte, EY, KPMG) or a top-tier regional firm (RSM, Grant Thornton, Baker Tilly, etc.) is strongly preferred.

• Expert-level experience with enterprise ERP systems; NetSuite experience is strongly preferred, although candidates with SAP, Oracle, Workday, or similar ERP experience will also be considered.

• Familiarity with Ramp or similar expense management platforms is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, with a capacity to adapt quickly, reprioritize as needed, and contribute within a lean, hands-on organization.

• Proven track record in leading month-end close processes, preparing US GAAP financial statements, and managing external audit processes.

• Experience with multi-entity and multi-location consolidations.

• Strong background in inventory accounting, cost accounting, and manufacturing accounting, including inventory reconciliations and SKU-level costing.

• Experience collaborating with external tax advisors and understanding book-to-tax differences, depreciation, and state and local tax compliance requirements.

• Advanced Excel skills, including experience with financial analysis, flux analysis, and budget-versus-actual reporting.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop accounting professionals, especially within multicultural or remote teams.

• Strong communication skills, capable of clearly and effectively explaining complex accounting concepts in an asynchronous work environment.

• Hands-on leadership style with a readiness to personally execute accounting tasks while gradually enhancing team capabilities over time.

• Strong problem-solving abilities with the initiative to independently resolve issues before escalation.
