This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the monthly financial closing process across three entities.

• Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements according to a specified closing calendar.

• Develop, document, and oversee a comprehensive step-by-step closing procedure.

• Draft Accounting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Rectify historical accounting records, addressing misclassified entries, missing accruals, and unsupported balances.

• Create supporting schedules for corrected records.

• Lead the transition of accounting systems from QuickBooks to Sage Intacct.

• Define the chart of accounts, validate migrated data, and establish system workflows.

• Conduct monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts.

• Reconcile billing and vendor payments using PEPM formulas and enrolled member counts.

• Oversee financial reporting and reconciliation for around 60 self-funded employer groups.

• Reconcile claims disbursement activities with plan trust accounts.

• Manage and mentor the accounting team.

• Supervise AP/AR functions.

• Deliver executive-level financial analysis and variance commentary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

• Over 10 years of progressive accounting experience.

• At least 2 years in a Controller or similar role overseeing a full-cycle, multi-entity close.

• Proven experience in correcting and cleaning historical accounting records.

• Demonstrated ability to create SOPs from the ground up.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and intercompany eliminations.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel.

• Proven experience in migrating or implementing accounting systems.

• Experience in insurance, Third-Party Administration (TPA), managed care, or employee benefits is highly preferred.

• Experience with self-funded health plans is highly preferred.

• CPA certification is strongly preferred.

• Prior experience with Sage Intacct is a significant advantage.
