Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Manage the complete accounting cycle and month-end closing for client accounts

• Review the work of the team to ensure accurate and reconciled financial records

• Prepare monthly management reports and budget/forecast variance analyses

• Convert financial insights into actionable recommendations

• Develop annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and cash flow models

• Design and maintain dashboards and key performance indicator reporting

• Establish and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

• Lead ERP system implementations, data clean-ups, and process enhancements

• Identify opportunities for automation

• Supervise payroll, sales tax, and compliance with government and regulatory filings

• Prepare year-end working papers and provide necessary support

• Collaborate with external accountants, auditors, and tax consultants

⛳️ Requirements

• CPA designation is mandatory

• Extensive experience in controllership and/or public accounting

• Preferably experienced in supporting private, owner-managed, or growth-stage companies

• Assurance experience at a public accounting firm is advantageous

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

• Ability to foster professional relationships with clients and team members through open and effective communication

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy in account reconciliation

• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Xero, or Sage is a plus

• Experience in the construction industry is a plus

• Experience in FP&A or financial modeling is a plus
