Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

• Lead and expand the accounting department, including recruitment, performance management, coaching, and succession planning.

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.

• Ensure adherence to ASC 606 revenue recognition standards and other applicable accounting guidelines.

• Prepare financial statements and management reports that comply with GAAP standards.

• Spearhead the annual audit process and manage relationships with external auditors.

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls.

• Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relations, and treasury functions.

• Collaborate with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

• Supervise tax compliance, including federal, state, and local filings.

• Guide and nurture the accounting team, establishing best practices and professional development opportunities.

• Assess and implement accounting systems and tools to enhance efficiency and scalability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.

• Experience in a venture-backed SaaS organization (preferably Series A through C).

• CPA certification is required; experience with a Big 4 or national firm is strongly preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and SaaS subscription business models.

• Proven experience in managing external audits and executing internal controls.

• Proficiency in accounting and related systems (NetSuite, SalesForce, Ramp) and Excel.

• Strong communication skills, capable of presenting financial data to non-financial audiences.

• Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams.

• History of process improvement and systems implementation.
