• Oversee the design, development, and integration of computer and network-based Operational Technology (OT) systems for automation initiatives.
• Implement OT system start-ups, conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and perform live OT system upgrades.
• Define hardware requirements for computer and network systems that meet project specifications.
• Assist and resolve issues for project teams during the design, implementation, and warranty stages of projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, commissioning teams, and subcontractors to guarantee successful project completion.
• Maintain clear communication with customers and stakeholders throughout design reviews, testing phases, and commissioning processes.
• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers involved in project work.
• Proactively identify project risks and work with teams to create effective technical solutions.
• Ensure that deliverables comply with Thermo Systems Quality Management System (QMS) standards.
• Adhere to established engineering procedures and documentation practices during project execution.
• Support requirements for cybersecurity, industrial networking, and IT/OT integration.
• Maintain meticulous attention to detail in system design, testing, and commissioning tasks.
• Aid in the integration of OT systems with data platforms, historians, and visualization tools.
• Contribute to the implementation of industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT).
• Assist with API-based integrations and data exchanges between systems where applicable.
• Engage in enhancing system connectivity, performance, and visibility across projects.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Thermo Systems' approach to modern OT environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical experience.
• Generally, 5-7+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, or IT/OT system settings.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and designing industrial networks, with a focus on OSI Layers 1-3 (cabling, VLANs, switching, routing, etc.).
• Associate-level certification in recognized networking equipment (CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent).
• Experience in developing SCADA/HMI systems using platforms such as FactoryTalk, Ignition, or similar.
• Familiarity with industrial networking and contemporary IT/OT integration practices.
• Experience in data integration concepts, system connectivity, or scripting (Python, PowerShell, or similar) is advantageous.
• Participation in supporting FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities for automation systems.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities in intricate automation environments.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical decisions with engineers, project managers, and customers.
• Excellent organizational and collaborative skills across multidisciplinary teams.
