• Oversee the design, development, and integration of computer and network-based OT systems for automation initiatives.
• Implement OT system start-up, conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), perform Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and manage live OT system upgrades.
• Define hardware for computer and network systems that conform to project specifications.
• Assist and resolve issues for project teams throughout the design, implementation, and warranty stages of projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, commissioning teams, and subcontractors to guarantee effective project execution.
• Engage in clear communication with customers and stakeholders during design evaluations, testing phases, and commissioning processes.
• Offer technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers involved in project tasks.
• Proactively identify project risks and work with teams to formulate efficient technical solutions.
• Ensure that deliverables comply with Thermo Systems Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
• Adhere to established engineering processes and documentation standards throughout project execution.
• Address cybersecurity, industrial networking, and IT/OT integration needs.
• Maintain meticulous attention to detail in system design, testing, and commissioning efforts.
• Facilitate the integration of OT systems with data platforms, historians, and visualization tools.
• Participate in the implementation of industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT).
• Assist with API-driven integrations and data interchange between systems as needed.
• Engage in enhancing system connectivity, performance, and visibility across projects.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Thermo Systems' strategy regarding modern OT environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
• Generally, 5-7+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, or IT/OT system environments.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and designing industrial networks, with an emphasis on OSI Layers 1-3 (cabling, VLANs, switching, routing, etc.).
• Associate-level certification in industry-standard networking equipment (CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent).
• Experience in developing SCADA/HMI systems using FactoryTalk, Ignition, or comparable platforms.
• Familiarity with industrial networking and contemporary IT/OT integration methodologies.
• Knowledge of data integration concepts, system connectivity, or scripting (Python, PowerShell, or similar) is an advantage.
• Experience in supporting FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities for automation systems.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities in intricate automation settings.
• Ability to convey technical decisions effectively to engineers, project managers, and clients.
• Exceptional organizational and collaborative skills across multidisciplinary teams.
