• Oversee the design, development, and integration of computer and network-based OT systems for automation initiatives.
• Carry out OT system start-up processes, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and live upgrades of OT systems.
• Define hardware requirements for computer and network systems that are aligned with project specifications.
• Provide support and troubleshooting assistance to project teams during the design, implementation, and warranty stages.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, commissioning teams, and subcontractors to ensure the successful execution of projects.
• Maintain clear communication with customers and stakeholders throughout design reviews, testing phases, and commissioning tasks.
• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers involved in project activities.
• Proactively identify project risks and work with teams to formulate effective technical solutions.
• Ensure that all deliverables comply with Thermo Systems Quality Management System (QMS) standards.
• Adhere to established engineering processes and documentation standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with cybersecurity, industrial networking, and IT/OT integration needs.
• Exhibit meticulous attention to detail in system design, testing, and commissioning efforts.
• Facilitate the integration of OT systems with data platforms, historians, and visualization tools.
• Aid in the implementation of industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT).
• Support API-based integrations and data exchanges between systems whenever applicable.
• Engage in efforts to enhance system connectivity, performance, and visibility across projects.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Thermo Systems' approach to contemporary OT environments.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
• Generally, 5-7+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, or IT/OT system environments.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and designing industrial networks, with a focus on OSI Layers 1-3 (cabling, VLANs, switching, routing, etc.).
• An associate-level certification in industry-standard networking equipment (CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent).
• Experience in developing SCADA/HMI systems using platforms like FactoryTalk, Ignition, or similar.
• Familiarity with industrial networking and contemporary IT/OT integration practices.
• Experience in data integration concepts, system connectivity, or scripting (Python, PowerShell, or similar) is advantageous.
• Proven experience supporting FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities for automation systems.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities in complex automation settings.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical decisions to engineers, project managers, and customers.
• Excellent organizational and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
