This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Prepare a range of agreements for book acquisitions and associated documents (such as author contracts, contract amendments, reversions, and terminations)
• Negotiate contracts to finalization with authors and their representatives, working collaboratively with in-house editors, legal teams, royalties personnel, and business managers
• Oversee the signature and payment processing using DocuSign
• Input essential contract details into the Biblio database
• Monitor contract progress and securely archive signed agreements
• Analyze contract specifics (including rights, territories, and author approvals)
• Offer general support to the department and manage special projects as required
• Demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating agreements for trade book publishing
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with a diplomatic approach
• A proactive and adaptable mindset, coupled with creative problem-solving skills
• Outstanding organizational capabilities and meticulous attention to detail
• Capacity to handle high volumes of work across multiple priorities concurrently
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and G-Suite
• Knowledge of electronic signature platforms like DocuSign and systems for publishing data entry
• Experience in book publishing, with insights into business and legal matters
• 2-4 years of experience in book publishing contracts; in-house experience is advantageous
• A college degree is not mandatory
