Contractor – Nuclear QA Engineer 4

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, assess, and uphold the quality assurance program processes at NuScale.

• Create instructions, procedures, and other documents that outline quality assurance program requirements and guidance.

• Evaluate NuScale Level 2 and higher procedures to ensure compliance with the QAPD, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, international standards, and the NQAM.

• Assist in ASME Section III supplier qualification and implementation audits, including surveillance activities.

• Conduct internal quality assurance audits, surveillances, and assessments.

• Lead or take part in causal analyses.

• Oversee audits after achieving certification as a Lead Auditor.

• Review modifications to ASME Code Section III.

• Support Quality Assurance personnel in assessing the QA program documents of suppliers as related to the Code.

• Review NuScale procurement documents pertaining to ASME Code items and services.

• Act as the primary Project Quality representative for projects related to 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and/or ASME Code Section III.

• Deliver formal and on-the-job Quality Assurance training to NuScale team members.

• Mentor and offer technical guidance, support, and education to Quality Assurance personnel and others engaged in quality-affecting tasks.

• Engage in industry initiatives concerning QA program trends, NRC issues, and technological advancements.

• Liaise with the AIA, Code committees, suppliers, and other stakeholders on behalf of NuScale.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a B.S. or B.A. degree; a technical degree is preferred.

• Alternatively, 8 additional years of full-time, highly relevant work experience (18 years total) may be considered in place of a degree.

• At least 10 years of experience related to the development and/or implementation of nuclear quality assurance programs.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in implementing an ASME BPVC Section III program, including certification of data reports and interaction with Authorized Nuclear Inspectors.

• Proven understanding and application of ASME BPVC Section III, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, NQA-1, and other international regulations and standards.

• Recent experience in Nuclear QA Project Management.

• In-depth knowledge of ASME Section III.

• Exceptional writing, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Capability to effectively manage complex tasks and projects.

• Current or prior certification as a Lead Auditor in an NQA-1 or 10 CFR 50 Appendix B program is highly preferred.

• The successful candidate must obtain certification as a Lead Auditor.

• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality requirements alongside NQA-1 and Appendix B is desired.

• Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

• Ability to communicate effectively through phones, face-to-face interactions, and computers.

• Quick adaptability to learn new job functions and grasp new concepts.

• Willingness to travel nationally and locally; some international travel may be necessary.
