Contract Specialist

📋 Description

• Prepares, reviews, negotiates, and finalizes agreements with study sites in accordance with local and accepted procedures.

• Engages in negotiations within approved parameters regarding investigator grant budgets, contractual terms, and conditions, adhering to company and client contractual considerations, and established site processes, while following appropriate escalation paths.

• Guarantees adherence to established negotiation guidelines, authority approvals, contractual processes, and client expectations.

• Ensures compliance with budgetary guidelines, templates, and processes.

• Identifies and evaluates legal, financial, and operational risks, escalating them to the appropriate level within the organization as per established procedures.

• Offers recommendations and alternative solutions for Investigator Contracts negotiations via established escalation channels.

• Collaborates with internal functional departments to ensure that various site startup activities align with contractual obligations and mutually agreed timelines; ensures synchronization of the contract negotiation process for sites and studies with the critical path for site activation.

• Meets target cycle times for site activations.

• Ensures that guidelines and processes are adhered to for efficient escalation of issues that exceed established parameters, as appropriate.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.

• Previous experience that equips the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job (comparable to 2-5 years).

• A solid understanding of the principles of contract law, including a general awareness of laws that affect contract language, such as business, intellectual property, and local tax and stamp laws.

• Proven ability to apply fundamental principles of investigator grant negotiation.

• General knowledge of business and financial principles related to service agreements.

• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) in English and the local language.

• Capable of drafting and negotiating contract provisions and budgetary matters within guidelines, with appropriate oversight.

• Demonstrated attention to detail.

• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.

• Understanding of the pharmaceutical product development process and the role of CROs.

• Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team setting.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Familiarity with PPD SOP and WPDs.

• Ability to logically organize competing priorities and assess outstanding contractual risks and issues.

• Proficient in using automated systems and computerized applications.

• Ability to communicate in a customer-focused manner, solving problems and collaborating effectively.

• Repetitive hand movements with both hands, capable of making quick, simple, repeated motions of fingers, hands, and wrists.

• Frequent mobility required.

• Occasional crouching and stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of the upper body and neck.

• Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moving) objects, including luggage and laptop computers, with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.

• Ability to access and utilize a variety of computer software developed in-house and off-the-shelf.

• Ability to clearly communicate information and ideas so that others can understand, along with the capacity to listen to and understand information and ideas conveyed through spoken words and sentences.

• Frequently interacts with others to gather or relay information to diverse groups.

• Performs a wide range of variable tasks dictated by changing demands and conditions, often with little predictability. Ability to perform under stress and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Regular and consistent attendance is required.
