Consulting Controller – Client Advisory Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead Onsite Financial Assessments: Conduct 2–3 day in-person discovery sessions with CEOs and executive teams from growth-stage companies to assess their financial health, internal controls, and operational challenges.

• Deliver Strategic Recommendations: Create detailed assessment reports and collaborate with Vessel CFOs/Advisors to present actionable financial strategies to client leadership.

• Fractional Controller Leadership: Act as the primary Controller for a portfolio of recurring clients, overseeing the quality of month-end closings, budget/forecast preparations, and optimizations of accounting systems.

• Drive Clean-Up & Integration: Address complex financial structures, pinpoint areas of risk, and implement internal controls to ensure client financial records are "audit-ready."

• Lead Teams & Contractors: Supervise and evaluate the contributions of accounting staff and specialized contractors to guarantee that quality, budget, and scope objectives are achieved.

⛳️ Requirements

• Public Accounting Roots: 3–5+ years of essential experience in financial auditing, assurance, or risk advisory within a public accounting firm. A CPA license is advantageous, even if inactive.

• Controller / Advisory Experience: Over 8 years in advancing accounting roles, including significant experience in managing multi-client projects or corporate financial operations.

• Room Facilitator & Executive Presence: Outstanding capability to lead in-person discovery sessions, engage a room of executive stakeholders, and navigate intricate discussions with confidence.

• Tech-Savvy & Systems Mindset: Strong proficiency in cloud accounting platforms (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct) and contemporary finance technology ecosystems.

• Proactive Project Manager: Exceptionally organized, adaptable to shifting travel plans, and comfortable working in a predominantly Slack (95%) and client email (70%) communication environment.

• Base Salary: $105,000 – $130,000 (Based on experience)
