This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Plans, directs, and supervises the activities of designated projects.
• Acts as the representative for the Owner/Client in the daily management of construction projects.
• Accountable for the leadership and management of the team.
• Provides management support for all construction-related matters.
• Oversees construction observation and contract administration tasks at the project site.
• Directs and coordinates the activities of the construction management team.
• Supervises the construction management team.
• Monitors project schedules and budgets.
• Prepares monthly progress payment estimates for completed work and approves payments for contractors.
• Manages projects by analyzing reports, maps, specifications, drawings, tests, photographs, and other relevant data.
• Prepares or oversees the preparation of correspondence between the contractor, owner, and designer, including submittals, requests for information, change order requests, and design clarifications.
• Negotiates change orders and recommends acceptance to the owner/client.
• Analyzes construction claims related to additional compensation and time extensions.
• Depending on project staffing, may also undertake duties outlined in the Inspector and Project Engineer job descriptions.
• The position may require occasional travel between project sites; it is the individual's responsibility to arrange their own transportation.
• Responsible for team leadership and management (results, people, culture, supervision), operating independently with guidance from the Director as needed.
• Utilizes team feedback to make informed decisions.
• Facilitates communication and collaboration within the team.
• Promotes an understanding of the impact of the team's work, ensuring that daily expectations are clear and met.
• Coordinates closely with all project stakeholders.
• Delivers clear and compelling messages to both the team and project stakeholders.
• Participates in committees.
• Leads team activities and provides coaching on technical matters.
• Analyzes and evaluates issues and relevant factors, including risks.
• Assists teams in anticipating potential issues.
• Coaches and mentors direct reports to apply judgment in problem-solving.
• A degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field.
• Must possess a certificate of registration as a professional engineer, a licensed architect, or a certificate in construction management.
• Requires a minimum of four years of relevant work experience.
• Must be a member of at least one professional organization with increasing levels of engagement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Proficient in Office 365.
• Familiarity with Procore or similar construction management software and Primavera P6 scheduling software is preferred.
• Must be capable of working both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and when confronted with unexpected issues or delays.
• Responsible for fostering staff professional growth and engagement.
• Experience in Water/Wastewater is beneficial.
