This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Our Connectivity Engineers serve as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in fiber optics, structured cabling, and data center physical infrastructure.
• The CE oversees the entire lifecycle of physical installation projects, which includes coordinating schedules with Low Voltage Contractors (LVC), executing thorough Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) checks on contractor work, and making sure that the final installation complies with all design standards, safety regulations, and labeling policies.
• Act as the main technical point of contact on-site for the Low Voltage Contractor (LVC) and internal engineering teams.
• Manage the deployment schedule of the LVC, ensuring that project milestones are met and relaying progress and delays to project management.
• Coordinate access, material delivery, and staging areas with data center facility operations.
• Serve as a remote hands expert for remote engineering teams during deployment and validation processes.
• Conduct thorough, multi-stage QA inspections on all LVC work, which includes rack placement, server/device racking, cable routing, and labeling.
• Ensure that all infrastructure, such as racks, servers, network devices, and storage units, are installed and grounded in accordance with the specified Bill of Materials (BoM) and design documentation.
• Carry out or directly supervise optical loss testing (OLTS), OTDR analysis, and insertion/return loss assessments on all installed fiber links (Single-Mode and Multi-Mode).
• Confirm the integrity and pin-out of copper (Cat6a/Cat8) cables using certified testers.
• Ensure that all patch panels, trunks, patch cords, and cable management systems adhere to code standards.
• Manage vendor/partner relationships, contracts, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to uphold installation quality.
• Function as the organization's SME for fiber optic infrastructure and structured cabling best practices (e.g., BICSI standards).
• Review, interpret, and validate design documentation, rack elevation diagrams, and fiber schematics to ensure constructability.
• Create detailed final test reports, as-built documentation, and root cause analysis (RCA) reports for any issues encountered during deployment.
• Educate and mentor internal full-time employees on fiber maintenance and cable management best practices.
• Oversee closeout activities and facilitate handoff to the operations team.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in data center or mission-critical infrastructure deployment.
• Travel Ready: Willing to travel up to 40% for extended onsite deployments during data center turn-ups. Remote-based but prepared to be on-site where the work is needed. You understand that deployment leadership means being present when challenges arise.
• Deep technical proficiency (SME level) in fiber optic systems, encompassing design standards, installation techniques, and advanced testing methodologies (OTDR, VFL, Power Meter).
• Demonstrated experience in physical infrastructure installation, including the racking, stacking, and cabling of servers, network, and storage hardware.
• Capability to read, interpret, and translate technical drawings and schematics (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio).
• Strong organizational abilities with a proven record of driving projects to successful completion and effectively navigating ambiguity.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• We are dedicated to pay equity and transparency.
