This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.
• Oversee the process of identifying, researching, and resolving potential ethical, business, and subject matter conflicts.
• Execute managerial duties in alignment with the firm's established policies and procedures.
• Duties include interviewing, hiring, and training new personnel for the conflicts team.
• Supervise, plan, assign, and direct the work of the conflicts staff.
• Evaluate performance and address personnel-related matters.
• Act as a positive role model and mentor for team members.
• Create, suggest, and implement innovative processes for business and lateral intake as well as conflicts checking.
• Collaborate extensively with firm management, including the General Counsel and the Intake Committee.
• Oversee the continuous maintenance of conflicts data to ensure its accuracy and integrity.
• Organize, facilitate, and document the discussions and outcomes of the Intake Committee conference calls.
• Provide orientation and training for new attorneys and professional staff on new business conflicts and lateral hire procedures.
• A bachelor's degree is required for the Conflicts Manager position.
• The Managing Conflicts Counsel role mandates a J.D. and must be licensed and in good standing in the state of practice.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in the conflicts or new business intake department of a law firm is necessary.
• At least 5 years of supervisory or management experience in conflicts or new business intake is required.
• Familiarity with automated conflicts databases (e.g., InTapp) is essential.
• Strong investigative and analytical abilities are required.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, along with customer service skills, are essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, is necessary.
• Ability to work autonomously and propose and implement effective solutions.
• Proven leadership skills, including critical thinking, risk-taking, and creativity, are essential.
