This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop, present, and prototype gameplay concepts for essential combat mechanics and systems.
• Design combat characters, encompassing their feel, behavior, abilities, and encounters across diverse environments.
• Implement combatant characters with animations and behaviors utilizing state machines, behavior trees, visual effects, sound effects, arena layouts, pacing, level design tools, and scripting systems.
• Generate design documents, content briefs, system outlines, and other resources to communicate information with relevant teams.
• Collaborate with various disciplines to ensure that the appropriate partners are engaged and informed throughout the development process.
• Keep abreast of industry trends, game genres, game design methodologies, and audiovisual advancements.
• Operate with a significant level of independence and contribute to the objectives of the combat design team.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in AAA game production for consoles and PC.
• At least 2+ years of experience in shipping third-person melee combat titles in AI, combat, or systems design roles.
• Proficient in at least one game editor.
• Outstanding ability to conceptualize, present, and implement game systems and features using diverse tools, technologies, and visual languages.
• Solid understanding of creative and game development processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated success in creating engaging and enjoyable gameplay, scenarios, and encounters.
• Self-driven, dedicated, team-oriented, and capable of providing and receiving constructive feedback.
• A strong passion for combat-centric games.
• Experience with visual and/or text-based scripting for avatar behaviors, combat actions, and hero state machines.
• Proficiency in English is necessary for regular communication with international colleagues, partners, and stakeholders outside of Québec.
• Familiarity with at least one game editor; experience with multiple engines is a plus.
• Nice to have: understanding of action-adventure genre design, player psychology, and emerging industry trends.
• Nice to have: knowledge of Maya, 3DS Max, or similar 3D software.
• Nice to have: familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and Perforce Client (P4V).
