This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Conduct regular audits of property documentation, encompassing resident files, lease agreements, income verifications, and other pertinent records.
• Carry out on-site inspections of properties to evaluate adherence to physical and operational standards.
• Analyze financial documents, including rent rolls, budgets, and financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with HUD regulations, LIHTC requirements, and other relevant laws and regulations.
• Identify and evaluate potential compliance risks, and create and implement corrective action plans.
• Monitor and track compliance issues, ensuring prompt resolution.
• Provide guidance to property management staff on compliance matters and best practices.
• Keep accurate and current records of all audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
• Prepare reports that summarize audit findings and recommendations.
• Assist in crafting responses to regulatory inquiries and audits.
• Design and deliver training programs for property management staff on compliance issues.
• Stay informed about changes in regulations and industry best practices.
• A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in affordable housing compliance or a related field.
• Strong grasp of HUD regulations, LIHTC requirements, and other applicable laws and regulations.
• Experience in data analysis, report writing, and maintaining records.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI).
• Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Willingness to travel nationwide approximately 85% of the time for on-site reviews and investigations.
