This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +3 more states.
• Oversee and coordinate the performance and programmatic requirements related to environmental compliance at water and wastewater facilities.
• Lead the environmental compliance efforts for water and wastewater initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations, which include permits and reporting obligations.
• Support projects in understanding regulatory requirements while providing guidance and resources for compliance.
• Conduct compliance audits and assessments, implementing necessary corrective actions.
• Monitor compliance metrics and track the progress of corrective action plans.
• Assist in regulatory inspections and manage responses to findings.
• Keep abreast of new regulations, standards, industry best practices, and emerging requirements.
• Investigate concerns related to regulatory environmental compliance.
• Develop and enhance environmental recordkeeping and reporting programs continuously.
• Create and deliver training for staff on environmental compliance policies and procedures.
• Formulate and execute compliant operating policies and procedures for water and wastewater projects.
• Act as a liaison for regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
• Provide project due diligence and startup support as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor's Degree with over 7 years of experience in environmental management, compliance, or a similar combination of education and experience in the water and wastewater sector.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, particularly the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act.
• Familiarity with NPDES, stormwater permits, water quality regulations, CWA, and SDWA.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License.
• Water or Wastewater Operator Certification is advantageous.
• Proficiency in producing high-quality documentation for clients and regulatory bodies.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications and internet usage.
• Extensive knowledge of EPA regulations.
• Experience within the water and wastewater sector.
• Excellent communication skills, both clear and professional, with the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
• Capable of identifying and resolving complex issues.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks, projects, and priorities.
• Competence in training others and assuming leadership roles.
• Capability to perform physical activities, including sitting, standing, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
• Willingness and capability to travel 50% of the time.
