This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Conducting investigations, evaluations, and resolutions of insurance claims associated with environmental damage.
• Analyzing policy coverage, assessing liability, negotiating settlements, and managing legal defense strategies.
• Ensuring adherence to environmental regulations while minimizing financial risk.
• Collaborating with underwriting teams on marketing initiatives, portfolio management, and other strategic efforts.
• Diligently investigating environmental claims, general liability, and excess liability by collecting information on incidents, conducting site assessments, identifying potential pollutants, and recognizing impacted parties.
• Reviewing insurance policies to assess the applicability of coverage for claims.
• Evaluating potential liability based on findings from investigations, legal precedents, and relevant regulations.
• Calculating and assigning appropriate claim reserves to accurately reflect financial exposure.
• Negotiating settlements with claimants or their legal representatives.
• Coordinating with legal counsel to develop and manage legal defense strategies.
• Identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives throughout the claims process.
• Investigating potential fraudulent claims related to both environmental and non-environmental damages.
• Maintaining transparent communication with stakeholders regarding the status and updates of claims.
• Recognizing patterns and trends within environmental claims to guide risk management strategies.
• Overseeing a portfolio of claims within the Environmental Division.
• Providing insights on environmental risks to underwriting teams and participating in risk assessment discussions.
• Analyzing the performance of the claims portfolio and proposing risk mitigation strategies.
• Conducting training sessions on claims handling and updates on regulatory changes.
• Acting as a liaison between claims, underwriting, and other departments.
• A Bachelor’s Degree is required, with a Juris Doctorate preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
• Familiarity with Construction Defect issues.
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex insurance claims, including investigation, evaluation, and resolution processes.
• Ability to analyze complex data, assess environmental impacts, and make well-informed decisions.
• Strong negotiation abilities to achieve favorable settlements with claimants and legal counsel.
• Understanding of legal principles associated with environmental liability and insurance coverage.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Capability to represent the company in market-facing engagements, such as client meetings, industry conferences, and networking events.
