Commissioning Support Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Create and execute delivery processes for the upcoming AP1000 plant deployment.

• Formulate and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and testing protocols for nuclear systems and components.

• Develop pre-operational and startup testing, including system turnover packages in accordance with engineering specifications.

• Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure preparedness for commissioning.

• Identify, document, and rectify deficiencies and non-conformances.

• Ensure adherence to nuclear safety standards, NQA-1 quality requirements, and regulations from bodies such as NRC and IAEA.

• Review and validate system design documents, drawings, and specifications.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or a related Engineering field, or equivalent experience.

• Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.

• Experience in commissioning, system testing, or plant operations is essential.

• Familiarity with nuclear plant systems, including reactor systems, I&C, electrical distribution, and HVAC.

• Understanding of nuclear codes and standards such as ASME, IEEE, and NRC regulations.

• Knowledge of quality assurance programs, specifically NQA-1.

• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, instrumentation and control diagrams, and technical drawings.

• Strong dedication to safety and adherence to procedures.

• Proficient in analytical thinking and root cause analysis.

• Effective project coordination and time management skills.

• Experience supporting a cross-functional team.

• Attention to detail for documentation accuracy.

• Ability to work within strict regulatory and quality frameworks.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in nuclear power plants or similarly regulated industries.

• At least 3 years of experience with startup testing, system turnover, or outage support.

• Knowledge of Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) and digital systems.

• Possession of a Professional Engineering (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience with radiological work controls and nuclear site requirements.

• Familiarity with risk assessments and safety analysis methodologies.
