This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Identify timely areas for applied ecology research: Collaborate with the Senior Editors and BES staff to pinpoint key focus areas for the journal.
• Commission high-quality papers: Work alongside the Editorial Office to encourage submissions of proposed manuscripts related to the journal's priority areas.
• Serve as a decision-making editor: Manage Reviews, Perspectives, Practitioner’s Perspectives, and Policy Directions, both solicited and unsolicited, in your role as a decision-making editor.
• Enhance understanding: Assist authors in deepening their comprehension of the journal’s scope and article types by responding to pre-submission inquiries regarding special article types.
• Foster collaboration: Communicate and act in ways that promote a positive and inclusive editorial environment.
• A background in ecology or a related field.
• Proficient in clear and accessible written communication.
• A solid understanding of the broader ecological landscape and the significance of various article formats in reaching ecological practitioners and policymakers.
• Experience as an academic editor, including handling peer reviews and making recommendations or decisions.
• Capability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
• A commitment to the BES values: equity, sustainability, collaboration, and integrity.
• Experience with Special Features or specific editorial projects for peer-reviewed journals.
