This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist the team in comprehending actual legal workflows, such as intake, matter organization, document review, escalation, and the preservation of decisions and rationale.
• Offer practical advice to product managers and engineers regarding commercial agreements, matter workflows, risk assessment, negotiation strategies, and legal operations.
• Assess AI product concepts and workflows to ensure they reflect realistic legal practices, identifying missing steps, edge cases, and underlying assumptions.
• Articulate the legal reasoning behind accepting, rejecting, redlining, seeking context, or escalating contract provisions.
• Review AI-generated outputs, including summaries, issue identification, clause classifications, redline recommendations, obligation extraction, precedent retrieval, and more.
• Create evaluation rubrics, benchmarks, and representative examples for the training and testing of AI systems.
• Produce ground-truth data by analyzing agreements, labeling legally pertinent information, documenting evidence, and articulating reasoning.
• Provide guidance on modeling institutional legal knowledge, which encompasses playbooks, prior positions, counterparty history, precedent, approvals, and negotiation rationale.
• Deliver specific feedback on product accuracy, completeness, confidence, and utility to seasoned lawyers.
• Occasionally assist in customer discovery through collaborative sessions or client discussions.
• Must reside in the United States.
• Preferred 5+ years of legal experience; candidates with slightly fewer years but particularly relevant experience may also be considered.
• Significant hands-on experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial or transactional agreements.
• Background as an in-house lawyer, senior associate, legal consultant, or transactional counsel supporting complex organizations or sophisticated commercial clients.
• Extensive experience with NDAs, services agreements, procurement or vendor agreements, technology agreements, licensing agreements, transaction documents, or other negotiated contracts.
• Capacity to independently review agreements, identify significant issues, evaluate practical risks, and articulate the reasoning behind recommendations.
• Experience utilizing playbooks, precedent, prior agreements, negotiation history, or organizational risk tolerance when advising on contract positions.
• Strong written communication skills for structured explanations and written evaluations.
• Ability to clearly explain legal concepts to engineers, product managers, designers, and other non-lawyers.
• Comfort in working with incomplete information and distinguishing conclusions, necessary context, escalation points, and matters unsuitable for AI determination.
• Practical perspective on what constitutes useful versus unhelpful legal technology.
• Qualification or admission as a lawyer in a U.S. jurisdiction.
• A signed NDA is required before work commences.
• Currently authorized to work legally in the U.S.
