📋 Description

• Assists Commercial Loan Officers in managing ongoing commercial credit relationships and collaborates with them to support new ones.

• Acts as the main point of contact for current borrowing relationships.

• Works closely with the commercial lending team to ensure timely annual reviews, monitors performance against covenants and conditions, and aids the CLO in tracking and developing action plans for declining credit relationships (e.g., watchlist reports, problem loan status reports, etc.).

• Gathers updated information, analyzes data, and prepares periodic loan review memorandums, providing risk upgrade or downgrade recommendations with support from the CLO, as necessary.

• Develops, coordinates, and reviews annual review memorandums, property inspections, and commercial real estate evaluations for accuracy and further approval recommendations.

• Underwrites, structures, and assists in documenting new loan and modification requests for existing client relationships exceeding a specified threshold; typically the most complex and significant credit relationships and situations (e.g., C&I, construction, etc.).

• Manages relationships with loan participation partners and offers research and underwriting for new participation loan requests.

• Identifies cross-sell opportunities and directs members towards other services and products available from the credit union to fulfill the business relationship's needs.

• Conducts all necessary due diligence, including reviewing financial, entity, legal, and other documents prior to credit submission to safeguard credit union resources.

• Aids the CLO in managing the assigned portfolio by tracking performance and trends, proactively defining credit relationship solutions, identifying issues, and developing remedies, underwriting, and providing credit approval recommendations as designated.

• Assists the CLO in creating and maintaining special reports as required for the commercial lending team to monitor risk, identify opportunities, and facilitate departmental and portfolio allocation and management.

• Provides support and training to Commercial Portfolio Managers on financial spreads, credit memorandums, annual reviews, and loan documentation.

• Ensures the department complies with all state and federal regulations, policies, and procedural guidelines. Offers feedback for updates and revisions to commercial lending policies and procedures as necessary. Stays informed about industry, market trends, and regulatory changes.

• Serves as a backup for the Commercial Credit Manager when necessary.

• Performs all other assigned duties.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least seven (7) years of loan underwriting experience, preferably in commercial underwriting and analysis within a financial institution.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

• RMA Lending Certifications.

• Proficient knowledge of commercial lending and deposit account procedures, analysis of commercial and personal financial statements, credit approval/annual review memorandums, and commercial loan documentation.

• Familiarity with lending regulations.

• Preferred Subject Matter Expert (SME) level understanding of accounting and business finance, commercial real estate finance, and financial statement and cash flow analysis.

• Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills to assess existing and potential members' financial needs. Proven customer service skills and the ability to engage with members in a professional manner to enhance the credit union's image in its market areas.

• Ability to organize tasks to promptly address members' requests while meeting designated deadlines.
