Commercial Lines New Business Underwriter – Habitational E&S

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• Manage new business accounts by engaging in outbound interactions with various carriers and brokers.

• Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal sales personnel regarding new business submissions.

• Underwrite habitational risks by identifying and evaluating risk exposures, loss frequency, and severity in relation to desired coverage.

• Build relationships with both external and internal clients, focusing on delivering exceptional customer experiences across all communication channels.

• Provide and develop solutions for a wide array of inquiries from brokers and team members.

• Comply with rating rules while ensuring proper documentation is maintained.

• Utilize our online broker portal to execute tasks and troubleshoot issues effectively.

• Recognize opportunities to enhance underwriting efficiencies.

• Operate independently within set deadlines while understanding the importance of communication and coordination with stakeholders.

• Gather and comprehend market intelligence and trends.

• Approach work with an emphasis on underwriting profitability.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in commercial property underwriting E&S is required.

• A Bachelor’s degree or a suitable combination of education and experience is necessary.

• Familiarity with habitational P&C policies is preferred.

• Property and Casualty insurance license is preferred (with a preparation period of 6 months allowed).

• A strong desire for ongoing learning; professional designations are advantageous.

• Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, comfortable in a dynamic and evolving organization, and possess strong organizational skills including time management and prioritization.

• Occasional travel may be necessary for team and broker meetings.
