Commercial Lines New Business Underwriter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage new business accounts through proactive outreach to various carriers and brokers.

• Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal sales personnel regarding new business submissions.

• Underwrite habitational risks by assessing and analyzing risk exposures, loss frequency, and severity in relation to desired coverage.

• Build relationships with both external and internal clients, focusing on the "customer experience" and ensuring exceptional interactions across all communication channels.

• Provide and develop solutions for a wide range of inquiries from brokers and team members.

• Comply with rating rules and maintain proper file documentation.

• Utilize our online broker portal to perform tasks and resolve issues.

• Identify opportunities to enhance underwriting efficiencies.

• Work independently while adhering to deadlines, recognizing the importance of communication and coordination with stakeholders.

• Gather and comprehend market intelligence and trends.

• Approach work with an emphasis on underwriting profitability.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in commercial property underwriting E&S is required.

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.

• Familiarity with habitational P&C policies is preferred.

• A Property and Casualty insurance license is preferred (with a 6-month preparation period allowed).

• A strong desire for continuous learning; professional designations are advantageous.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation capabilities.

• Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a dynamic environment, possessing strong organizational skills, including time management and prioritization.

• Occasional travel may be necessary for team and broker meetings.
