Commercial Insurance Adjuster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Manage a caseload of intricate commercial claims autonomously, encompassing, but not limited to, property, general liability, professional liability, and business interruption losses.

• Perform extensive investigations by interviewing claimants, witnesses, and policyholders; inspecting loss sites; and collaborating with engineers, contractors, public adjusters, and forensic accountants as necessary.

• Analyze commercial policy wording to ascertain coverage, exclusions, and relevant limits.

• Establish precise and timely reserves based on an evaluation of exposure.

• Negotiate settlements directly with policyholders, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters within the designated settlement authority.

• Draft comprehensive and well-documented claim file notes, coverage position letters, and reserve justifications.

• Recognize and escalate potential fraud signals or opportunities for subrogation.

• Ensure adherence to state regulatory mandates, statutory deadlines, and laws against unfair claims practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active adjuster license(s) in good standing (required for resident state; multi-state/all-lines license is highly preferred).

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial claims adjusting, with a proven history of managing complex, high-value losses.

• Comprehensive knowledge of commercial property (ISO/AAIS forms), CGL, and business owner's policies.

• Exceptional analytical and negotiation abilities, with experience in managing claims involving legal counsel and public adjusters.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including formal correspondence regarding coverage.

• Proficient in claims management systems (e.g., FileTrac or similar) and estimating software such as Xactimate/Symbility.

• Willingness to travel for site inspections as necessary.

• A clean E&O/bonding record is required for named designation, if applicable.
