This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +3 more states.
• Provides assistance to the management of the Appraisal Group as part of the corporate commercial appraisal and review initiative by conducting independent internal evaluations of appraisal reports.
• Evaluates appraisal reports to ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory obligations, and bank criteria, while assessing the reasonableness and credibility of appraisals.
• Produces timely internal review reports focusing on technical evaluations that opine on value conclusions.
• Collaborates with engaged appraisers to address inquiries and resolve potential issues to achieve compliant and accurate market value results.
• Works alongside account officers, relationship managers, and department leadership to identify solutions to unacceptable appraisals, which may involve rejections, ordering new appraisals, issuing supported value opinions, or preparing internal Restricted Use appraisals.
• Serves as a resource for bank staff and assists with managerial responsibilities as designated by the Chief Appraiser.
• Responds to inquiries from bank personnel regarding corporate appraisal policy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Identifies and evaluates risks, escalating issues to the Chief Appraiser to ensure appropriate resolution.
• Provides recommendations to the Chief Appraiser concerning potential additions to and necessary disciplinary measures for current appraisers on the corporate approved appraiser list, stemming from the appraisal review process.
• Supplies relevant market data to the Chief Appraiser for inclusion in department databases.
• Assists in designated managerial tasks to promote the efficient and effective functioning of the department.
• Guides and advises department personnel in the more complex aspects of their responsibilities.
• Makes recommendations and conducts sessions related to employment matters, performance evaluations, salary adjustments, promotions, training, transfers, and terminations for assigned department staff.
• Evaluates the validity of existing appraisals and evaluations.
• Analyzes current appraisals and evaluations to determine if they still reflect the property's market value and can be utilized in future transactions.
• Prepares necessary validation documentation and creates a departmental file containing the data and analysis considered, which may include market data compiled and maintained in the department's databases, or advises that a new appraisal or evaluation is necessary if the originally reported market value is deemed invalid.
• Responsible for special projects assigned by management, including but not limited to general market data analysis and quarterly reporting.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 9 years in Appraisal.
• At least 5 years in Banking.
• Preferred: 2 or more years of management experience in a banking setting.
• State Certified General Appraiser certification.
