
College Admissions Counselor – Part-Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Guide a caseload of students and families through the HelloCollege program.
• Ensure that students successfully complete the program and reach their college planning objectives.
• Manage a caseload of up to 50 students in accordance with the HelloCollege program blueprint and service-level agreements.
• Provide strategic recommendations on admissions approaches based on curricula, extracurricular activities, leadership selections, summer programs, and standardized test preparation.
• Conduct bi-monthly formal consulting sessions with students, documenting notes and action items for stakeholders.
• Foster positive and enduring relationships with families.
• Maintain communication with students and families outside of formal sessions.
• Track communications and milestones using the HelloCollege portal.
• Facilitate up to four online workshops each month.
• Stay informed about trends in higher education and college planning.
• Engage in team meetings, knowledge sharing, shadowing, and mentoring activities.
• Contribute to referrals, testimonials, consultations, online reviews, company culture, and overall growth.
• Undertake additional responsibilities, such as writing blog posts and conducting research projects.
• Part-time availability of approximately 25–30 hours per week when the caseload is at capacity.
• A Master’s degree or College Counseling certification is highly recommended.
• Required experience in highly selective and Ivy League college counseling, college admissions, school counseling, or student advising.
• Proven experience assisting students in gaining admission to Top 25 and Top 50 universities.
• Capability to support affluent, high-achieving clients.
• In-depth knowledge of selective and highly selective US colleges and universities across the nation.
• Ability to work effectively with students and parents from various academic, ethnic/racial, and financial backgrounds.
• Excellent skills in written and verbal communication.
• Strong ability to collaborate and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Exceptional case management, prioritization, and attention to detail skills.
• Willingness to take on additional tasks, such as writing blog posts and engaging in research projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
• Capacity to quickly learn new software and systems.
• Experience in public speaking and event facilitation is advantageous.
• Must be available for evening work from 3pm to 9pm PST.
• Required to work 1–2 Saturdays per month during the application season (August–November).
• Preference will be given to applicants in MST or PST time zones.
• Experience working with students who have learning differences.
