This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Reporting to a Program Manager, College Access Coaches are enthusiastic and driven undergraduate students who provide virtual support to high school students on their paths to college.
β’ Respond to student text messages received through our messaging platform, Mainstay, within a 24-hour timeframe.
β’ Check the Mainstay messaging platform daily, dedicating at least one hour each day to ensure all messages are viewed and responded to.
β’ Offer engaging support to students, including advice, resources, and encouragement on topics such as completing college applications, filling out financial aid forms, enrolling in college, communicating with guidance counselors, accessing academic support, maintaining a school-work-life balance, and overcoming various challenges.
β’ Share your college experiences and insights to assist students in navigating their own educational journeys.
β’ Distribute pertinent tip sheets from the LGR curriculum and guide students in maximizing their use of available school resources.
β’ Build a warm rapport with students and ask follow-up questions to enhance program engagement and support college matriculation and persistence.
β’ Foster individualized relationships with a caseload of students by sending tailored text messages and emails with additional resources.
β’ Complete virtual learning modules (LGR360) promptly, covering subjects such as culturally responsive mentorship, active listening, and facilitating student goal setting.
β’ Conduct mandatory monthly check-in calls via phone or video to provide further assistance with the college access process.
β’ Track communication with mentees using our Salesforce data platform.
β’ Attend weekly supervision meetings (via video) with the Program Manager to review goal progress, quality of student engagement, address issues, flag urgent or sensitive situations, and plan for the upcoming week.
β’ Participate in mandatory monthly coach meetings for professional development and to discuss important program updates.
β’ Must be a current undergraduate student or have graduated within the last 1β2 years.
β’ Must be highly comfortable in building rapport virtually through phone calls, emails, text messaging, live video streams, etc.
β’ Possess outstanding relationship-building skills across diverse personalities and identities, demonstrating effective communication with warmth and empathy.
β’ Exhibit time management, attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
β’ Capable of navigating multiple new technology platforms.
β’ Balance results-driven work with a personable approach.
β’ Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
β’ Must be able to commit to the position for the entire school year, including summer employment (from August 2026 through August 2027).
