This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Dakota.
• Review medical documentation and allocate the correct codes (ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT).
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, regulations, and company protocols.
• Communicate effectively with medical professionals to enhance the accuracy of documentation.
• Self-driven individual with the capacity to work autonomously.
• Engage in coding team meetings and act as a subject matter expert.
• Oversee and validate physician charge capture.
• Deliver accurate and timely ICD-10-CM coding for diagnoses, as well as HCPCS and CPT coding.
• An Associate degree in Health Information Technology or a Certification in Coding is required.
• In-depth knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology, with successful completion of coursework from an accredited institution in the International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD) diagnosis, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) coding schemes, medical terminology, or human anatomy/physiology is preferred.
• Required certifications include Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice (CPC-A), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician based (CCS-P), CCS Healthcare (CCS-H), and Certified Outpatient Coder (COC).
• If the associate is not certified upon hire, they must obtain certification within one year of their hire date.
