This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Carefully evaluate and code patient records across various clinical areas, including Acute - Outpatient, Acute - All Inpatient Service Lines, and Ambulatory Level 3 Specialty Services.
• Achieve established standards for coding accuracy and production output.
• Examine and interpret the content of medical records to accurately assign ICD diagnosis procedure codes, CPT procedure codes, and modifiers.
• Inform coding leadership of emerging trends and topics for educational opportunities and feedback directed at physicians and departments.
• Identify and input data elements necessary for abstracting.
• Actively engage in performance improvement teams, projects, and committees.
• Act as a Superuser and provide assistance with system testing.
• Serve as a backup for the coding reimbursement specialist.
• High School Diploma/GED - Required
• Associate degree or Bachelor's degree - Preferred
• 2 years of Coding experience - Preferred
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Associate - Required
• Certified Coding Associate from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) - Required
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) - Preferred
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) - Preferred
