
Cloud Technical Mentor – Independent Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Deliver customized support by addressing learners' inquiries related to course material and projects.
• Before each call, mentors are required to review students' previous project submissions—supplied by the Mentor Success Team when available—and/or any particular aspects of the Nanodegree content or project where the student has indicated confusion or difficulty.
• For in-depth concept discussions, mentors will prepare a slide presentation that elaborates on a Nanodegree concept, presents various use-cases to enhance student understanding, and facilitates a Q&A session with the learners.
• For project reviews, a mentor will prepare a slide presentation that breaks down each component of the rubric to aid learners in comprehending expectations and common issues they may face. This may involve the mentor "grading" a sample submission to illustrate what mentors seek when evaluating projects.
• Conduct regular sessions (via Slack or video) to address learner questions concerning projects and coursework, with no prior preparation needed.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency with over 5 years of experience in the relevant domain.
• A strong enthusiasm for mentoring and assisting others in achieving their educational goals.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills; you thrive on forging relationships, communicating effectively, and cultivating a positive learning atmosphere.
• A thorough understanding of the tech industry and current trends in AI and associated fields.
• The ability to work part-time as an external contractor alongside existing commitments.
• Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS is preferred; GCP/Azure is a plus).
• Comprehensive understanding of cloud architecture and fundamental services (compute, storage, networking).
• Familiarity with DevOps methodologies (CI/CD, automation, deployment pipelines).
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with monitoring and logging solutions.
• Awareness of security best practices within cloud environments.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
