Cloud Infrastructure – Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Cloud Infrastructure & Automation (AWS / IaC)

• Automate the provisioning and lifecycle management of AWS services, encompassing identity, compute, storage, backups, networking, logging, and monitoring, utilizing Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.

• Deploy, configure, secure, and maintain infrastructure across AWS and hybrid environments in accordance with secure baseline standards.

• Standardize reusable IaC modules, advocate for best practices, and enhance consistency across development, testing, and production environments.

• Construct and improve CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps workflows using tools such as Git, Terraform, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, and Docker.

• Diagnose and resolve infrastructure and automation challenges to ensure reliability, performance, and continuity of operations.

• Implement operational visibility through logging and monitoring enhancements and actionable dashboards, as appropriate for your environment.

• Apply cybersecurity best practices and support zero-trust and compliance-aligned infrastructure operations, including frameworks such as NIST, CIS, and ISO 27000.

• Collaborate with security and networking teams to establish secure configurations, change controls, and processes that are ready for audit.

• Facilitate business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) requirements while ensuring operational readiness.

• Work closely with engineering, security, networking, and application teams to meet mission needs and adhere to delivery timelines.

• Partner with data engineers and scientists to fulfill infrastructure requirements for data pipelines and machine learning workflows.

• Maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), system diagrams, and secure configuration baselines.

• Summarize and communicate findings and recommendations—both in writing and verbally—to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must secure approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.

• Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• A minimum of SIX (6) years of hands-on experience in AWS, cloud infrastructure, and/or enterprise IT operations.

• Strong practical expertise in Terraform for AWS infrastructure automation.

• Experience in building and managing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using tools such as Git, Terraform, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, and Docker.

• Proficient scripting skills in Python and Bash.

• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, zero-trust principles, and compliance frameworks such as NIST, CIS, and ISO 27000.

• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, Kiro) to enhance delivery while ensuring high quality through testing, reviews, and security measures.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across Engineering, DevOps, and Architecture teams.
