Cloud Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage cloud infrastructure utilizing Terraform, OpenTofu, or similar Infrastructure as Code tools.

• Assist in the operation of Kubernetes environments on Azure, encompassing deployments, Helm releases, secure traffic management, certificates, and cluster setup.

• Enhance CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation to enable product teams to deliver with greater speed and reduced risk.

• Contribute to Petal’s internal developer platform, which includes golden paths, self-service templates, and tools designed to simplify infrastructure for product teams.

• Provide support for observability, alerting, and incident response concerning shared services.

• Reinforce security frameworks across identity, access control, secrets management, private networking, and vulnerability assessment.

• Draft and maintain effective runbooks and operational guides that are practical for other engineers to utilize.

• Engage in design discussions, identify operational risks proactively, and provide constructive feedback during code and infrastructure evaluations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Relevant cloud experience with at least one major cloud provider such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Familiarity with fundamental cloud concepts including compute, networking, storage, identity, and secrets management.

• Practical experience with Terraform, OpenTofu, or a similar Infrastructure as Code tool.

• Proficient knowledge of Kubernetes, including deployments, services, namespaces, and basic troubleshooting in production environments.

• Comfortable in constructing or maintaining CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, or automation scripts.

• Basic understanding of observability concepts: metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and the ability to diagnose issues.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to share challenges promptly and maintain focus during complex situations.

• Resourceful and inquisitive.
