This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +15 more states.
β’ Develop coding procedures and diagnoses utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT classification systems in compliance with Official Coding Guidelines, CMS regulations, payer policies, and Mosaic compliance standards.
β’ Engage in online educational activities such as workshops, conferences, and/or in-services, ensuring to maintain records of participation.
β’ Liaise with providers to query and confirm that documentation offers the utmost level of specificity.
β’ Collaborate with Patient Financial Services, Revenue Integrity, or other departments to verify and adjust charges and coding to ensure accurate supporting documentation, adherence to payer rules, and correct coding practices.
β’ Confirm the accuracy of State HIDI data and other claims by addressing edits.
β’ Handle specialty care claims rejections or denials as necessary.
β’ Assist in training newly hired coders when required.
β’ Carry out other assigned responsibilities.
β’ Must reside in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, or Virginia for remote work opportunities.
β’ A high school diploma is mandatory.
β’ Knowledge of Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology is essential.
β’ Completion of a coding education program is required.
β’ A minimum of 2 years of coding experience is necessary.
β’ 3 years of coding experience may be accepted in lieu of coding education.
β’ At the time of hire, must possess one of the following certifications: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC).
β’ Must successfully complete the Epic Healthcare Assessment within 5 business days post-hire.
β’ Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, pathophysiology, and coding guidelines is required.
β’ Proficient in data input and retrieval, clear verbal communication, precise hand/eye coordination, fine motor tasks, and effective writing.
β’ Capable of interpreting chart data and encoder instructions, comprehending physician documentation, and maintaining focus for extended periods.
β’ Able to visualize and interpret patient records effectively.
β’ Adaptable to work with interruptions and maintain flexibility regarding hours and workflow.
β’ Regularly able to sit, reach, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
