This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Evaluate and analyze clinical safety issues raised by clients, utilizing clinical judgment to assess severity and scope.
• Conduct thorough investigations: collect evidence, identify root causes, document findings, and communicate results back to clients with empathy and clinical expertise.
• Leverage AI platforms to investigate and replicate reported clinical output issues.
• Manage cases through to resolution, including following up with clients to obtain additional information or clarify reported concerns.
• Collaborate with internal teams — such as engineering, product, and medical knowledge — when investigations uncover issues beyond the Clinical Safety department's jurisdiction, while maintaining ownership of the customer-facing issue.
• Contribute to regular safety reporting, encompassing volume tracking, root cause analysis, and identification of emerging trends.
• Assist in the upkeep and enhancement of clinical safety documentation — including investigation procedures, known issue logs, and internal reference materials.
• Spot opportunities to enhance our processes and communicate these suggestions to the team.
• Aid in determining the regulatory reportability of global clinical safety concerns, differentiating between clinically significant events, near misses, and non-reportable incidents.
• Escalate unclear or urgent cases to senior Clinical Safety colleagues within established timelines.
• Expand your knowledge of global medical device regulations and their relevance to AI-generated clinical documentation.
• Current clinical registration (e.g., HPCSA or equivalent).
• Direct patient-facing clinical experience.
• A critical thinking approach — you identify discrepancies, question what is absent, and ensure nothing is overlooked.
• Exceptional attention to detail — in this position, minute details are crucial.
• Clear and confident written communication skills — you will be drafting messages for clients and explaining clinical nuances to non-clinical colleagues.
• Methodical and organized — comfortable with structured processes, detailed documentation, and compliance with regulatory timelines.
• Interest in or exposure to health technology, clinical informatics, or AI in the healthcare sector (Nice to Have).
• Experience with clinical audits, incident reporting, or complaint resolution (Nice to Have).
• Familiarity with medical device regulations (especially MHRA reporting) or quality management standards (Nice to Have).
• Experience utilizing support or ticketing systems in a customer-facing environment (Nice to Have).
