This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
β’ Evaluate the information and knowledge requirements of healthcare professionals and patients to guide system design, configuration, and optimization efforts.
β’ Analyze, assess, and improve clinical processes to boost efficiency, accuracy, and the quality of care provided.
β’ Create, implement, and enhance clinical decision support (CDS) systems to encourage evidence-based clinical practices.
β’ Lead or engage in the procurement, customization, development, implementation, management, evaluation, and ongoing improvement of clinical information systems, including electronic health records (EHR) and order-entry systems.
β’ Convert clinical needs into functional and technical specifications for health IT development and configuration teams.
β’ Carry out gap analyses, workflow assessments, and usability evaluations to uncover opportunities for system enhancements.
β’ Collaborate with clinical personnel, IT teams, and program management to ensure system implementations align with clinical and operational goals.
β’ Create training and change management resources to facilitate end-user adoption of clinical information systems.
β’ Oversee post-implementation performance and suggest improvements to meet desired clinical and operational results.
β’ Prepare written reports, presentations, and recommendations for government clients and senior stakeholders.
β’ A Master's Degree in Clinical Informatics, Biomedical Informatics, Health Informatics, Nursing Informatics, or a related field in clinical or health information science.
β’ At least 5 years of experience in clinical informatics or a closely related field.
β’ Proven experience in supporting the implementation or enhancement of clinical information systems, including EHR platforms.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare delivery processes, and patient care settings.
β’ Experience in the design, build, and governance of clinical decision support (CDS) systems.
β’ Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as VistA, Cerner Millennium, Epic, or similar platforms.
β’ Familiarity with clinical terminology standards such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, CPT, and RxNorm.
β’ Knowledge of health information exchange standards including HL7 v2, HL7 FHIR, and CDA.
β’ Strong analytical skills with the capability to assess clinical system performance and recommend evidence-based enhancements.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, capable of engaging both clinical and technical audiences.
β’ Understanding of quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA cycles) as applied in healthcare environments.
