Clinical Informaticist II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Evaluate the information and knowledge requirements of healthcare professionals and patients to guide system design, configuration, and optimization efforts.

• Analyze, assess, and improve clinical processes to boost efficiency, accuracy, and the quality of care provided.

• Create, implement, and enhance clinical decision support (CDS) systems to encourage evidence-based clinical practices.

• Lead or engage in the procurement, customization, development, implementation, management, evaluation, and ongoing improvement of clinical information systems, including electronic health records (EHR) and order-entry systems.

• Convert clinical needs into functional and technical specifications for health IT development and configuration teams.

• Carry out gap analyses, workflow assessments, and usability evaluations to uncover opportunities for system enhancements.

• Collaborate with clinical personnel, IT teams, and program management to ensure system implementations align with clinical and operational goals.

• Create training and change management resources to facilitate end-user adoption of clinical information systems.

• Oversee post-implementation performance and suggest improvements to meet desired clinical and operational results.

• Prepare written reports, presentations, and recommendations for government clients and senior stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master's Degree in Clinical Informatics, Biomedical Informatics, Health Informatics, Nursing Informatics, or a related field in clinical or health information science.

• At least 5 years of experience in clinical informatics or a closely related field.

• Proven experience in supporting the implementation or enhancement of clinical information systems, including EHR platforms.

• Comprehensive understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare delivery processes, and patient care settings.

• Experience in the design, build, and governance of clinical decision support (CDS) systems.

• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as VistA, Cerner Millennium, Epic, or similar platforms.

• Familiarity with clinical terminology standards such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, CPT, and RxNorm.

• Knowledge of health information exchange standards including HL7 v2, HL7 FHIR, and CDA.

• Strong analytical skills with the capability to assess clinical system performance and recommend evidence-based enhancements.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, capable of engaging both clinical and technical audiences.

• Understanding of quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA cycles) as applied in healthcare environments.
