Clinical Documentation Educator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct audits, develop, implement, and sustain educational programs for clinical documentation aimed at physicians, clinicians, and other healthcare providers at designated client locations.

• Engage in the onboarding process of new client providers as well as client or Ovation revenue cycle personnel.

• Contribute to quality initiatives that affect documentation-related metrics for clients.

• Create, monitor, analyze, and report metrics associated with educational tasks and projects.

• Oversee resources and ensure that quality standards are fulfilled for clients.

• Cultivate and sustain positive relationships with current and former client contacts, as well as internal and external revenue cycle management teams.

• Design and implement educational programs regarding clinical documentation and develop documentation templates.

• Utilize data to pinpoint and target areas that require additional training.

• Maintain the provider education library.

• Assist in analyzing denial trends to identify educational opportunities.

• Support the development and expansion of coding services.

• Execute, supervise, participate in, and recommend enhancements and operational adjustments.

• Generate and deliver daily and weekly reports to both internal and external stakeholders, including executive-level personnel.

• Collaborate closely with providers through presentations and discussions.

• Mentor and train staff when applicable.

• Create, uphold, and enforce standard operating procedures for the department or clients.

• Perform additional duties as assigned based on client requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possession of Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) certification from the Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists (ACDIS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Professional (CDIP) certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

• Valid nursing license.

• A minimum of five years of relevant experience.

• At least three years of experience in employee and client management within a remote setting.

• Proficient knowledge of ICD-10 coding and MS-DRG assignment, American Hospital Association Coding Guidelines, and Coding Clinics.

• Extensive understanding of complex disease processes.

• Familiarity with quality improvement theories, core measures, and other necessary reporting programs.

• Strong comprehension of clinical documentation, coding, and billing requirements as dictated by Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.

• Competency in electronic medical records (EMR), CDI software, electronic codebooks, Microsoft Office, and presentation software.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize tasks while managing multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment, utilizing critical thinking skills.
