Client Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead professional services projects for organizations implementing Apple solutions on a large scale.

• Design, implement, and transition Apple management systems, including MDM, identity management, patching, security tools, and integrations.

• Oversee service engagements from inception to completion by defining scope, planning, executing, documenting, and concluding projects.

• Manage personal time and project responsibilities with flexibility and independence.

• Address escalated issues by utilizing packet captures, log analysis, protocol-level MDM troubleshooting, and macOS diagnostics.

• Deploy and understand automations, vendor API integrations, custom agents, and deployment tools.

• Challenge clients on proposed strategies that may not be viable in production and suggest improved solutions.

• Conduct scoping discussions, identify business motivations, and clearly communicate project requirements.

• Provide support for managed services clients in small and medium-sized businesses.

• Offer technical assistance and direction, document notes, update records, and resolve tickets within SLA goals.

• Mentor fellow engineers and team members.

• Contribute to the development of new products and services informed by practical experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high mid-level to senior-level position.

• Extensive experience in managing Apple devices across diverse environments.

• Strong hands-on proficiency with at least two enterprise Apple device management platforms.

• Capability to quickly adapt to additional platforms such as Jamf Pro, Microsoft Intune, Omnissa Workspace ONE, Fleet, Iru (formerly Kandji), Addigy, and Mosyle.

• Comprehensive understanding of the Apple management ecosystem, including MDM, Declarative Device Management, Automated Device Enrollment, Apple Business, APNs, configuration profiles, TCC and PPPC, FileVault, code signing and notarization, and Platform SSO.

• Experience in migrating device fleets between management systems.

• Proficient in writing and troubleshooting Shell scripts.

• Knowledgeable in Git, code review, CI, testing, and packaging.

• Ability to utilize APIs, webhooks, and automation workflows effectively.

• Familiar with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, 802.1X, VPN, proxies, and TLS inspection.

• Experience with Platform SSO, WebAuthn, Entra ID, Okta, Google Workspace, Active Directory, SAML, OIDC, SCIM, Kerberos, and certificate authorities.

• Understanding of CIS Benchmarks, NIST 800-53, SOC 2, ISO 27001, endpoint detection tools, and vulnerability management.

• Proven track record of delivering paid professional services or consulting to external clients.

• Experience in supporting end users and small businesses within a managed services framework.

• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in participating in discovery, kickoff, and project scoping conversations.

• Fluent in English (required).

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience and knowledge.

• Capacity to obtain relevant certifications swiftly; certifications are expected to be achieved within the first few months if not already possessed.
