Claims Program Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Oversee intricate and high-exposure medical malpractice claims, which include hospital, employed physician, and deductible-policy claims.

• Represent BSMH during pre-trial hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and a majority of trials.

• Direct and manage staff in alignment with the organization's objectives and goals.

• Conduct an annual analysis of defense counsel effectiveness.

• Implement and monitor claims associated with the Early Liability Review Program.

• Establish precise reserves promptly based on applicable formulas whenever feasible.

• Identify potential claims upon reporting and carry out appropriate follow-ups, including expert evaluations prior to lawsuits or notifications of potential suits.

• Collaborate extensively with external defense counsel to manage claims effectively.

• Ensure accurate billing from outside defense counsel is verified.

• Oversee policy reviews to guarantee adequate commercial-policy coverage and alignment between commercial policies and the Captive.

• Articulate risks and alternatives concerning claim options to senior leaders within the market and group.

• Work closely with employed physicians involved in lawsuits.

• Partner with Risk Management in the oversight of claims management.

• Address coverage issues in conjunction with insurance staff.

• Provide guidance and supervision for assigned staff responsibilities and projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is required.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in handling Professional Liability Claims is necessary.

• Must be able to work during Eastern Time Zone hours.

• Preferred qualifications include insurance coursework or credentials such as CPCU, AIC, ARM, or courses from the Insurance Institute.
