This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +3 more states.
• Independently delivers routine tasks in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, ensuring timely completion and adherence to deadlines.
• Utilizes the expanded knowledge gained from the role in increasingly complex situations and actively seeks to enhance expertise applicable to the position.
• Reviews and interprets disability insurance policies, paying particular attention to provisions concerning other income and offsets.
• Engages with and educates claimants who are eligible for SSDI benefits.
• Clarifies the distinctions and coordination between the disability policy/benefits and the benefits/adjudication provided by the SSA.
• Offers initial guidance and maintains ongoing communication with claimants regarding their Social Security responsibilities and follow-up tasks until a final decision is reached.
• Accurately records Social Security offsets in the relevant systems.
• Establishes and nurtures working relationships with SSDI vendors and/or claimant attorneys.
• Collaborates closely with internal benefits and claims teams, regularly providing updates and information about Social Security eligibility and determinations.
• Proactively investigates issues, identifies root causes, and suggests solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
• Keeps current with SSDI guidelines as well as departmental policies and procedures.
• High School diploma or GED, or a minimum of an Associate degree in place of required experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in navigating multiple systems, databases, platforms, and software.
• Ability to adapt and remain flexible in response to changing business needs.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in claims or insurance operations directly related to the specific responsibilities of this role, or for candidates with an Associate degree or higher, 0-1 year of relevant experience.
• Capability to problem-solve and make independent decisions while delivering compassionate customer service.
• Experience in research and data entry within a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
