This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Evaluate installed structures and associated civil work throughout all phases of construction and/or repair to verify that the work meets Client Standards, designs, specifications, and quality expectations.
• Perform quality assurance inspections on civil works, including underground duct banks, ditch infills, dike constructions/modifications, pilasters, culvert/bridge installations, and various concrete structures.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, which include a pre-job meeting guide, daily inspection report, non-standard report, photographs, marked drawings, and civil completion certificate, to be submitted within 24 hours of the inspection's completion.
• Conduct a pre-construction meeting with the civil contractor to review design drawings, Client standards/specifications, and site specifics at the project's commencement.
• Detect non-conformances during inspections, document them, and communicate these findings to the Contractor.
• Serve as the field representative for the Client’s Designer and/or Professional Engineer, conducting field reviews and coordinating design-related field issues with the Designer/Engineer.
• A minimum of a high school diploma is required. Candidates with a technical diploma, trade certification, or an equivalent mix of education and experience will be prioritized.
• At least 10 years of experience in civil underground infrastructure construction is necessary.
• Experience in inspecting civil underground infrastructure is considered an asset.
• Registration with ASTTBC as an Applied Science Technologist or Certified Public Worker is advantageous.
• Proficiency in reading structural/civil/utility drawings and interpreting the information concerning its implications for design/construction drawings.
• Intermediate skills in MS Office and general computer use for email correspondence and professional report writing.
• Strong planning and organizational skills to manage daily schedules and organize project documentation.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills in English.
• Willingness to travel and work outdoors in various weather conditions on construction sites is required.
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
• A clean criminal record check is necessary.
